Just Cause Dance Studio’s Class    Descriptions  
 
 
Children’s Combination (Ages 3-6)
Class length: 45 Minutes
These classes are designed for students ages 3-5 and include the dance styles of Ballet, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. Each class includes 45 minutes of a style of dance to accommodate a youngster's attention span, while providing the student with exposure to multiple dance forms. This class evokes the students' natural tendency to express themselves through movement.
Dress:Black leotard and black footless tights or black biker shorts         
Boys: jazz pants, plain t-shirt.  
 
Mommy and Me (Ages 2-3)
Class length: 45 Minutes
This class is an introduction to dance for children two to three years old. Students learn to follow instructions in a group setting, while learning basic ballet and dance steps. Students will focus on coordination while singing and playing musical games. Students completing the Toddler program generally proceed to one or more of the combination classes for three year olds.
Dress:Black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes.           
Boys: jazz pants, plain t-shirt. 
 
Pre BalletI (Ages 3-6)
Class length: 45 Minutes
Ballet technique is beneficial to body, mind and spirit, and is the foundation of all other dance forms. Through one on one guidance, students develop a greater awareness of their bodies and its movement potential. Through choreographed floor work; students experience the musicality and grace of the classical ballet. Dancers develop basic skills such as Demi Plié, Tendu, Ballet Skips, Walks and Runs, while exploring creative movement with images of dancing tigers, princes and princesses, clouds, snow flakes, and jumping frogs as inspiration. Dancers will also receive an introduction to ballet terminology and musical rhythms using creative movement.
Dress:Black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes.
For all ballet classes boys must wear: plain white t-shirt, black tights, dance belt, and black ballet shoes 
 
Ballet I(7 and up)
Class length: 1 hour
Ballet I breaks into the more traditional ballet class, gently incorporating discipline with a class structure of warm-ups, and very basic barre and center work. Ballet I introduces basic ballet technique to new students, and allows more experienced students to slow down and work on strengthening their own basics. Students learn to be focused and to develop strong body awareness. Rhythms, patterns, and expanded basic techniques are taught through repetitive combinations and musical awareness. Emphasis is placed on teaching the student how to work on improving their technique safely and within their own body placement.
Dress:Black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes.                      
For all ballet classes boys must wear: plain white t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes  
 
Ballet II (7 and up)
Class length: 1 hour
Ballet II continues the structure of the beginning ballet I class, but more is expected from the students as their attention span and physical strength develop. Rhythms, patterns, and expanded basic techniques are taught through repetitive combinations and musical awareness. Students at this level can begin to understand and learn about turn-out and correct body placement. The length and difficulty of barre work is increased, and center work becomes more complicated.
Dress:Black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes.
           For all ballet classes boys must wear: plain white t-shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes.
 
Jazz I (7 and up)
Class length: 1 Hour
Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. Jazz I includes:  Basic combinations of rhythmic, percussive movements of traditional jazz style. This is a wonderful way to expand energy and learn to dance at the same time.  The class focuses on developing technique and establishing different rhythms to upbeat music.
Dress: Black jazz pants/bike shorts, jazz shoes, plain colored leotard or tight fitting plain t-shirt.
 
 
Jazz II    (7 and up)
Class length: 1 Hour
Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality once technique is learned. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. Jazz class is a fun and fast paced mixture of various techniques. We will challenge our students with many different forms of jazz, all high energy but with different styles such as contemporary jazz, Broadway jazz, street jazz, and many more!
Dress: Black jazz pants/bike shorts, jazz shoes, plain colored leotard or tight fitting plain t-shirt.
 
 
Contemporary (7 and up)
Class length: 1 Hour
Contemporary dance is a dance form whose source is the unique movement style of the teacher. Contemporary classes introduce students to the modern concepts of contract/release, fall/recovery and isolations.  All classes encourage students to develop their unique style of movement through improvisation.
Dress: Black jazz pants/bike shorts, jazz shoes, knee pads, plain colored leotard or tight fitting plain t-shirt.
 
 
Cheer, Cheer, Hip Hop and Gym (5 and up)
Class length: 1 Hour
Students will be trained in the art of cheerleading. Students will learn basics in jumps, chants, training with poms, isolation and high energy moves, and beginning instruction in tumbling. Dance training will also be combined in cheerleading routines learned throughout the session.
Dress: Students are encouraged to wear loose fitting clothing and gym shoes that will only be worn in the studio: no street shoes allowed.
 
Hip Hop I (Ages 7-12)
Class length: 1 hour
Students will complete this class equipped with knowledge of Hip Hop history and culture, which are the spine of the dance form.  Students will gain a valuable understanding and appreciation of the improvisational nature of this dance form while learning basic movements and terminology.  Throughout the session, the class will examine different manifestations of this dance form -- breaking, popping and locking, house, and fusion -- while equipping students with the fundamentals of each style.
Dress: Girls: Leotard (preferred) (any style/any color) or camisole fitted top or sports bra tank top and jazz pants/leggings/tights/biker shorts.
Boys: Fitted shirt or solid color fitted T-shirt and jazz pants/leggings/ biker shorts/sweat pants.
Footwear: Jazz Sneakers or Sneakers (CLEAN athletic shoes) only. No street shoes.
 
Hip Hop II (12 and up)
Class length: 1 hour
Hip-Hop dancing is an urban dance style where the dancer's movements express the beats and rhythms of hip hop music. Students will learn more advanced hip-hop movements, floor work, partner work, and stage presence. Hip Hop dancing is a great form of exercise for anyone who loves to move to music and gives everyone the opportunity of learning how to dance.
Dress: Girls: Leotard (preferred) (any style/any color) or camisole fitted top or sports bra tank top and jazz pants/leggings/tights/biker shorts.
Boys: Fitted shirt or solid color fitted T-shirt and jazz pants/leggings/ biker shorts/sweat pants.
Footwear: Jazz Sneakers or Sneakers (CLEAN athletic shoes) only. No street shoes.shoes.
 
 
Advanced Hip Hop (12 and up)
Class length: 1 hour
Hip Hop creates body expression and freedom in dance that comes from the individual. Students will learn various styles of hip-hop including B-Bop, Pop/Lock, Tutting, Floating, Urban Funk, Krum ping, slow hip-hop, foot working, and even Break-Dance. Students will be taught at an advanced level and given the opportunity of learning the basics needed for dance auditions in the entertainment and theatre areas.
Dress: Girls: Leotard (preferred) (any style/any color) or camisole fitted top or sports bra tank top and jazz pants/leggings/tights/biker shorts.
Boys: Fitted shirt or solid color fitted T-shirt and jazz pants/leggings/ biker shorts/sweat pants.

Belly Dance
 Class length: 1 hour & 30 mins
Looking for a new and different type of workout? Belly dancing is now a popular trend in exercise! In this class, you’ll get a TOTAL BODY workout. You’ll raise your heart rate, burn fat, and tone your muscles. This aerobics-format class will include warm-up, break down of basic belly dance movements, traveling steps, shimmies, percussive hip work, abdominal and rib cage work, and sustained arm movements. This class is appropriate for all levels of students from beginner to professional. It is a great way for new students to cover the basics, and for seasoned belly dancers to stay in excellent shape for performance. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Bring water and be ready to sweat!
 
 
Adult Dance Classes
Adult dance classes and programs are offered on a drop-in basis (start at anytime) or enrollment basis (for a particular period of time). Adult dance classes and programs are for students 18 years and older.
 
 
 
Red Light Tease (Adults)
Class length: 1 hour
This class teaches you a sexy and fun routine that will help you to overcome inhibitions and fosters your confidence and self-expression. You will learn all the moves from the walk, hip rolls, the squat, the different crawls, and floor and chair routines. This class will bring out your confidence, practice your body language and eye contact, and make you feel good about yourself knowing you are exercising to not only feel sexy but look sexy.
 
 
 
Red Light Video Moves (Adults)
Class length: 1 hour
Learn the hottest and sexiest moves seen by Beyonce, Shakira, Madonna, and even Janet or Ms. Jackson if you nasty. We're recreating all of their videos in class so you can learn the exact same routines. Each class will teach you a new sexy dance routine to a popular music video but at the same time targeting core problem areas to not only make you feel sexy but look sexy as well.
 
 
 
Red Light Pole Dancing (Adults)
Class length: 1 hour
This incredibly fun and empowering Pole class is just for you as you learn a sexy routine that uses the pole as an effective prop. This class will also focus on muscle building and toning of the upper body, midsection and legs. No experience necessary.
 
 
 
 
Adult Hip-Hop
Class length: 1 hour
A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers.  Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.
                 
 
 
Yoga
Class length: 1 hour
Explore the gentle movements to increase flexibility, strength and well-being. Students are led through stretches, yoga postures, breathing practices, and then guided into deep relaxation. The class emphasizes stretching, coordination of breath with movement and attention to alignment; you will learn how to move your body with ease and awareness while experiencing the connection between your mind and your body. 
 
 
Salsa
Class length: 1 hour
Salsa dancing teaches students grace, coordination, self-discipline and self-confidence.  Most importantly, students gain an insight on different cultures as they explore dances like salsa, but also is included tango, rumba and more. Class also includes partnering techniques, and the most unique intricate turns and steps in the world of ballroom.
          Students are required to wear a basic "practice shoe," a practical and durable suede-soled dancing shoe that is made to be comfortable and wearable for long periods. High heeled dance shoes are also permitted.
